What are dental implants?
Dental implants are designed to mimic natural teeth. They are made up of two parts, above and below the gum line.
The implant itself is a titanium post or screw that is precisely placed into the jawbone. This acts as the replacement tooth root and will sit unseen below the gum line. Although it is hidden, this is the most important part of your treatment as the implant provides the strong foundation for your replacement tooth. The material that the implant is made from encourages the surrounding bone to integrate with it, this is how the very stable and secure base is created.
The replacement tooth section is called a crown. This is the part that will be seen and used to eat, bite and chew, so it needs to be both aesthetic and extremely functional. Your final crown will be crafted in our dental laboratory to match the rest of your teeth in shade, shape and size. The crown will also be made from the best dental materials available to ensure that it is strong and reliable. Your new crown will restore your smile to its former glory.
With the right oral health care regime in place, your new dental implants should last you many years. At Drayton Dental Care we will provide a maintenance programme, which will include dental health reviews and hygiene appointments tailored to your new dental implants, to help protect your investment in your smile.
A wide range of implant treatment
At Drayton Dental Care we are pleased to provide various solutions with dental implants, depending on your unique needs.
A single dental implant is often a great solution to replace one missing tooth. In these cases, an implant will be placed and a single crown will fill the gap.
If you have multiple missing teeth, we have various solutions. An implant-retained bridge is a good treatment option if you have teeth missing in one area. This is where a bridge of multiple crowns is placed onto one or two implants. In cases where more teeth are missing, we also offer full arch implants where your restorations are fitted onto 4 or 6 implants.
While some dental implant treatment will be provided in-house, we have partnered with Norfolk Dental Specialists to treat patients for certain implant cases. We will be able to provide full details of your own treatment journey with dental implants during your implant consultation.
