Latest news about your dental care at Drayton Dental

May 20, 2020

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement about easing the lockdown measures, we thought we would let you know how this may affect your dental care going forwards.

We are awaiting more detailed advice from the Government about what any proposed changes will look like and how they may impact our practice. Although we are currently closed, we are cautiously hopeful that we will be able to re-open in mid to late June and we will keep you posted as soon as we hear, of course.

Please keep checking this page for all the very latest news. We will be publishing useful information about our re-opening process here as soon as we receive the national guidance.

Your safety

The safety of you and our team is our top priority. We have created a short video to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to keep you and our team safe.

Practice refurbishment

While our practice is closed we are getting on with our refurbishment, which we hope will be all finished before you return. We are very excited to show you the renovations!

We can’t wait to return to work and do what we do best – care for your dental wellbeing. In the meantime, please keep in touch if you have any concerns about your mouth, teeth or gums as we are open for telephone, email and virtual consultations.

Do you have a dental emergency?

We are sorry to hear you have a dental emergency at this time. NHS England and the Department of Health has instructed dental practices to prioritise urgent treatment where possible. This guidance is to reduce the risk of virus transmission to you and to our staff.

Firstly, our team needs to determine the cause and severity of your dental emergency.

Go straight to A&E if you have:

  • Facial swelling affecting your vision, breathing or preventing your mouth opening more than 2 fingers’ width
  • Trauma causing loss of consciousness, double vision or vomiting

Do you have any of the following?

  • Facial swelling extending to your eye, neck or floor of your mouth
  • Bleeding following an extraction that does not stop after 20 mins of pressure with a gauze
  • Bleeding due to trauma
  • Severely broken tooth, or tooth fallen out with pain
  • Toothache that is preventing sleep or eating combined with swelling or fever that is not manageable with pain killers

If so, please call Debbie on 07565 990741 or Vasiliki on 07565 990742 and we will advise you. If you prefer, you can email us at draytondentalemergencies@gmail.com. If you have an emergency problem that we cannot help with either advice or antibiotics, we will refer you to our local Urgent Treatment Centre.

If you’d like to get in touch with a non-emergency dental question please do email about issues such as:

  • Loose or lost crowns, bridges or veneers
  • Fractured, rubbing or loose dentures
  • Broken, loose or lost fillings
  • Chipped teeth with no pain
  • Loose orthodontic wires
  • Bleeding gums

Please note we are unable to accept any of the above as urgent treatment however we can give advice over the phone, so please don’t suffer in silence. We are here to help, however we can. In fact, Vasiliki has filmed this short video to provide oral health advice!

Thank you for supporting us, we can't wait to get back to doing what we love best. Stay safe, stay healthy and see you back soon!
